fields we found/quiet details - landscape 05
Released: June 10
Continuing his landscape series into it’s fifth installment, electronic composer and curator fields we found takes us through another one of his practices of meditation and brings us heavy drones that are pierced periodically by moments of small but brilliant lights. The whole series has a similar vibe with some coming across as brighter and others coming across as a bit heavier. Landscape 5 falls more into the latter category as deep droning textures flood the space with a heavy and permeating sense of weight. There are those bright bits mentioned earlier, which add a certain level of brevity to the composition. But it feels a lot like being in deep and dark water, with those moments of light coming across as bubbles that refract the little light there is in short little bursts. The raw weight of the track only begins to dissipate near the end, gradually lightening as if we are coming to the surface only to retreat to the depths after a breath. It makes for quite a lovely dynamic played out over a long period.
The most recent entry fits in well with the series, though it stands out as the heaviest with only the first entry somewhat matching the energy. Nonetheless, the intensity is welcome. Combining this intensity with a lighter motif gives the track a certain fullness of spectrum that makes it really feel all enveloping, as if it would be all too easy to simply lose oneself in the sounds. But since this is specifically made as meditation music, it makes perfect sense to pursue such a goal. It’s is in fact a superb entry in the series and it will be interesting to see what the next entry brings.
