Lullabies - Distilled

Releases: March 6

On his latest upcoming album, guitarist and beatmaker Richard Lam brings us a surprising variety of moods in a ten track (possibly more upon release) package under his Lullabies project. Being a guitarist, Lam incorporates quite bit of different techniques and styles that blend together wonderfully including a surprising amount of spaghetti-western style chords and strums along with a bit of blues rock inflected soloing. All of this while the serene lo-fi inspiring boom-bar type beats keep the tracks centered on a particular theme.

The whole album gives off semi-moody vibes with some exceptions here and there. A standout in this regard is the slightly sultry and aggressive “Duelo De Almas.” Spanish-styled guitars alternate with sharp and distorted synth melodies to create a rather spicy atmosphere with tight rhythm punctuated by snappy snares.  “You Know It” gives us some of the most intricate guitar soloing you can hear on the album, which really calls back to some of the 70s-80s era blues rock sound, at least in tone and melodic content. The rhythm isn’t quite as pronounced as on other tracks, which gives that guitar a lot of space to really shine.

Overall, this album is really all about the chill vibes. Truly a great album to put on while having yourself a little smoke and a little drink to get lost in and relax. Early access to the album can be found on Bandcamp right now, with most of the tracks available after purchase and more coming soon on release.
