Limestone Ziggurat - Unmade and Reabsorbed

Released: August 17

Consisting of a single longform track, Unmade and Reabsorbed is among the most refreshing and enveloping pieces of drone ambient I have heard in quite some time. Its overall evolution is quite subtle but wholly enjoyable. It starts out very quiet, with just the gentlest of waves sloshing slowly up on an imaginative figment of a shore. The motion is that of a gentle creep as several discrete elements overtake one another in alternating fashion, ceding their ground to one another in calm and reserved fashion.

It begins with a thin piece of ambience sending us off on the journey, wavering ever so slightly as we move through the first few minutes. But then, complementary pieces of drone fade into the spotlight and then fade out soon after, thinning and thickening the soft cloud of sound that the piece envelops the listener in. I found it to be extremely relaxing while inserting just enough motion into it to prevent it from falling into the soft wall of sound trap. But the way in which the distinct elements come in and out of the space is truly captivating and makes for a remarkable dynamic experience for something so firmly centered in the realm of drone music.
