Fields We Found - Resolve/Relate 05

 Released: May 29

While listening to Resolve/Relate 05 for the first time, it was a rather hypnotizing experience. Fully fleshed out drones with just the right amount of distortion on top are the primary drivers of the track. But there are also some rather tasty additions that accompany it throughout the nearly twenty-five minute runtime like random beeps and the pervasive static that persists. The static is one of the fun parts because it stays so steady for so long, just holding its fuzzy line across the track until theres’s some bit of oscillating and the track begins to slowly morph into something different.

At this point, about halfway through, the track goes from solid and hovering drones to a more tonal experience as electronic bells ping about under heavy delays. The reversed sounding pads create mid-range excitement as the low rumbles of bass slowly rear up into the foreground and then disappear again. It was at this juncture where I began to listen a little more intently. The suddenly dynamic shift in the track was quite profound and as I listened, it shifted again after returning to the low drone static. It just feels so cleverly arranged as it goes between these points of being static and being more dynamic. It feels a bit like driving through a fog with points in which the fog lifts temporarily to give a view of scenes both beautiful and somewhat liminal. It is a rather intriguing half hour, with the excerpt honestly catching on of the best parts rather well.
