Amit Kalra - Eulogiae

Released: January 1

The latest from the cryptic Amit Kalra is a long and slow single piece of music running just over one hour in length. The amorphous nature of the music makes for few individually identifiable moments, but this is not to say that it is uniform the whole way through. Consisting of multiple indiscriminate layers of sound, Eulogiae feels very much like being slowly sucked into a black hole. It has a certain persistence to it, a type of lingering dread that never fully realizes itself in its sound and form. The title of the album suggests  that it may be a subject of sadness of loss, but there is an almost blankness to it - like being in a moment where you feel like you should cry but all you can feel is a pervasive numbness or blankness of mind. It’s an odd little experience for listening as it is completely uninterrupted and enveloping. A excellent way to spend about an hour in the dark with your favorite pair of noise cancelling headphones.
