회사AUTO - Achikochi

Released: January 6

회사AUTO is an artist that has his roots in the very earliest days of vaporwave with a catalog that goes all the way back to 2012 and the beginnings of what we might consider "internet culture." Now this Seattle-based artist brings us a new release through Pacific Plaza Records that combines elements of early vaporwave with new techniques and genre-blending that feels something like a new movement in vaporwave.

There's plenty here for old-school vaporwave fans with tracks like "Sao Paulo Solamor" and "Marfa Nights" that focus heavily on the chops and cuts that sit under layers of tape his and reverb, giving that foggy memories vibes throughout. But 회사AUTO also goes out of his way to try some new things with tracks like "Atlanta Fire" and Streets of Paris." These two tracks feature several of the elements of the classic vaporwave sound but have tighter and more focused beats with heavier emphasis on the bass than you might expect. Putting it all together, we get a eclectic album with slick production and an unpredictable ability to push the genre forward as it gets closer and closer to "classic" status.
