Loneward - Fractional Dimensions Volume 4
Released: August 12
This is the fourth and final entry in a series that Loneward has worked for the better part of two years. Each entry in the series has consisted of one single track that is just north of one hour in length. Each of the pieces is different in tones, textures, and timbres; but they all share a common unifying them of being geared towards those wonderful silent moments you get to yourself, fleeting as they may be. Having heard (almost) all four entries in their entirety, I get a sense that while they are all made for those quiet moments, the type of environment each conveys is slightly different.
The long-form piece on this entry gives me a very particular vibe as I can envision laying in a patch of grass shortly after the sun has disappeared from the sky. Not long enough for the heat of the daytime to have completely dissipated but just long enough that it has tapered off allowing a cool breeze to waft over with a medium intensity. For me, there is a particular interplay between the subtle elements that Loneward has managed to fit into this track. While it sounds simple on the surface, the depth of the layers on this track is intense, much like the others in the series. A wonderful ebb and flow as the music swells and subsides combines with the gradual yet dramatic shifts in pitch as the long pads ring out. It's purely serene.
