Bredbeddle - Steps on the Turning Year

Release Date: June 11

This upcoming album is the second release from UK-based artist Rebecca Lee a.k.a Bedbeddle. This album takes the art of sound collages and plunderphonic into a long-form realm with tracks that run well over the twenty-minute mark. Each track takes its time experimenting with a variety of mediums and the effects that can be derived from them including skips, glitches, and bizarrely pleasing sonic clashes. The results are intriguing and have a hypnotic quality to them. Currently available for pre-order on cassette and digital with one track available for preview.

Sam Andreae/David Birchall/Yan Jun - Click here (and there) for more information

Release Date: June 11

Following in the motif established by the Steep Gloss record label, this release is an enjoyably excruciating trip through heavily manipulated recorded audio that ranges from subtle to extreme. Half of the fun is trying to determine with kind of audio is being manipulated while the other half is just being taken in by the weirdness. At times, the audio sounds almost human while sounding animal at others. Sometimes, it even sounds as though the sound FX guy for Predator had a little too much to drink. No pre-order is currently available but you can follow Steep Gloss for notification when it is released and available to order on cassette or digital.

WELLNESS REGIME - GRIZZLED SKIPPER

Release Date: June 11

More sonic weirdness from Steep Gloss, this album is a bit more subdued in its noise elements than other releases from the label. While still a bizarre noise excursion, this release seems to be much more focused on creating an aesthetic of being played on an old audio medium. The entire album sounds as though it is being played through some kind of ancient phonograph with odd and impossible to place vocal snippets popping up throughout. No pre-order is currently available but you can follow Steep Gloss to be notified of release on both cassette and digital.

Giants of Discovery - Orpheus

Release Date: June 12

This upcoming release on the Woodford Halse tape label seems to be a melancholy ode to the ancient poet and prophet of Ancient Greece by the same name. The tone of the album does not appear to be a happy one as it is punctuated by harmonic content that evokes a feeling of not quite sadness but also not happiness. Judging by the tracklist, however, it does seem to follow along almost perfectly with the format of the literary comedy as the protagonist much travel through the worst in order to be reunited with his love. It will certainly make for a compelling listen in its entirety. Currently available for pre-order on cassette and digital with three songs available for preview.

Asher Graieg-Morrison - Things Remain Held Together

Release Date: June 10

This upcoming album is a continuation of what ambient composer Asher Graieg-Morrison began three years ago when he released Things Are Being Held Together. Born out of a time of uncertainty, this follow-up album reinforces that concept of being held together despite turmoil through a series of tracks that utilize thick, yet airy pads alongside a variety of field recorded textures. The result looks to be an album that creates a sense of unease and tension, but includes an assurance that this tension will resolve. Currently available for pre-order on cassette and digital with two tracks available for preview.

Philip G Anderson - Figment

An upcoming neoclassical album that consists of raw emotion and intensity represented by powerful strings and a stately piano in creative and moving arrangements. Described as an exploration of struggle and growth, the album plays as though it is a motion picture drama all its own. Phillip G. Anderson is the lead on this album with his astute piano skills on display while he is joined by two talented cellists and Laura Masotto on violin. Currently available for digital pre-order with two tracks available for preview.

Laura Masotto - WE

Release Date: June 11

A powerful display of her compositional talent, violist Laura Masotto's upcoming album looks to be a wonderful variety of moods and settings that range from intense and powerful to mysterious and filled with wonder. While there looks to be the occasional accompaniment, the violin is the star of this show as it takes the listener through the drama and the emotion of its full runtime. Currently available for digital pre-order with three tracks available for preview.
